Project Engineer – Cromarty Green Hydrogen Project

Storegga is looking for a Project Engineer with an Energy or Clean Technology sector background to join its Hydrogen team.  Storegga is currently developing both Green and Blue Hydrogen projects in the UK and have a pipeline of opportunities across the globe.  The Cromarty Green Hydrogen project, in partnership with ScottishPower, is located in the Cromarty Firth region (north of Inverness) and will provide green industrial heat across the region for a range of customers including distilleries and transportation sectors.  Developed through a series of modules, the project is expected to deliver hundreds of MW of green hydrogen production capacity before the end of the decade, with plans for the first module to be operational within 2025

As Project Engineer you would report into the Cromarty Project Manager and would be part of a small and dynamic team tasked with delivery of the first module and future expansions.  You would provide engineering and technical input to the ideation and development of project concepts through to final investment decision (including front end engineering and design) and act as an Owners Engineer/ Technical Authority on installation and commissioning delivered by third parties.  In addition, you would have the opportunity to contribute to other projects in the Green Hydrogen business development funnel and work closely with the team members delivering the non-technical workstreams.   

Key Tasks

Concept development of hydrogen production plant and associated routes to market including conversion of hydrogen into hydrogen carriers.

Development of energy and mass balances, plant layout concepts etc.

Development of scopes of work for studies and calls for tender for the inside and outside battery limits of hydrogen production plant and associated routes to market. 

Key Skills

Graduate engineer preferably chemical, electrical or mechanical with 2-3 post graduate roles within an industrial setting.

Ideally a Process Engineer with strong project management experience, preferably in the production of chemicals and/or gases.

Lots of self drive and initiative.  Not afraid to work outside of comfort zone and learn ‘on the job’. 

Creative thinker balanced with logic / pragmatism to deliver the engineering and technical due diligence necessary for investable projects.

Location:  Storegga’s office in Aberdeen combined with some virtual working.

Will require some travel within the U.K. particularly within N.E. Scotland therefore candidate should have access to a car or at minimum a driving license.
